Kevin Aitken's Obituary
KEVIN DANIEL AITKEN
“Papa” “Big Dawg”
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
Kevin Daniel Aitken, 64, was called home to Jesus on March 12, 2024, in Broken Arrow, OK.
Kevin was born on January 4th, 1960, to Lucy and Kenneth Aitken at the United States Air Force Hospital in Riverside, California. Kevin was the 2nd oldest of 5 children. Kevin grew up in La Porte, Texas and graduated from La Porte High School in 1978. Kevin played one year of college football at Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, TX before joining the Navy in 1979. Following his service in the Navy, he moved to Tulsa, OK in 1983. Tulsa remained his home for most of his adult life and was where he raised his four daughters. He moved to Denton, TX in 2009 where he resided until returning home to Tulsa in late 2021. He met his girlfriend, the love of his life, Tiffany, in 2022.
Kevin began his career in computer programming in 1985. He worked for Sally Beauty for the past 16+ years as a Senior Software Engineer where he was an integral part of IT support. He played a crucial role in the behind-the-scenes workings of the business with a focus on electronic data interchange. Kevin was known by his coworkers for his enthusiasm, positivity, and the constant smile on his face.
Kevin was a warrior for Christ and loved Jesus with his whole heart. He was a passionate and faithful servant who loved sharing the love of our Lord with others.
Kevin had a larger-than-life personality and loved BIG. One thing that he loved was NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL (GO IRISH!!!). On Notre Dame gamedays you could find him in front of the TV in one of his many Fighting Irish t-shirts and very enthusiastically… and loudly encouraging his team to victory. Kevin was so passionate about Notre Dame Football that he was determined that his daughters’ first sentence would be “Notre Dame, #1!” – and it was.
Along with Kevin’s love for Jesus and Notre Dame football was his fierce love for his family. When Kevin’s daughters were young, he took an active role in coaching their sports teams and was always their biggest fan and supporter during games, choir concerts, and livestock shows. He continued that role as “Papa” to his 13 grandchildren and could often be found at soccer and basketball games, ballet recitals, livestock shows, and school plays. When he wasn’t at their activities he was often playing “tea party”, throwing a ball, or sneaking them an extra piece of candy... or two.
Kevin’s legacy will live on forever through the many stories he shared and the memories of those who had the opportunity to know him. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, positivity and outlook on life, love of Jesus, and his fierce nature to protect those he loved. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Kevin was predeceased by mother Lucy Aitken and father Kenneth (Alice) Aitken, sisters Teresa Kutchka and Kathy Golden. Kevin is survived by his four daughters and their families: Brandice (Everett) Aitken-Estes, Heather (David) Williams, Stephanie (Ashley) Watling, Cheyanna (Scott) Teague, 13 grandchildren, brother Keith Aitken, sister Lucy (Charlie) Davidson, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27)
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7)
