Kevin Lane Blanton's Obituary
Kevin Lane Blanton, loving son, brother and uncle, entered heaven on July 18, 2015. No matter the setting, Kevin was the life of every occasion. His talents and abilities were as broad as the Western sky. Kevin’s passion was cooking, and he was an accomplished chef who worked in several exclusive establishments. He was also a construction/demolition supervisor who was well respected by his co-workers. Kevin’s hidden talent was an exceptional ability to sketch almost any scene with a unique perspective that left his family and friends in awe. But Kevin’s greatest gift to us all was his ability to make people from family and friends to perfect strangers feel like they were special. Kevin felt that everyone was important, and this love was reflected in how he treated them. This was most particularly felt by his many nephews and nieces. Wherever the gathering place, they always wanted to know if Uncle Kevin would be there. This is because Uncle Kevin had two sides, a playful side that every kid loved and a serious side that made the kids feel like they mattered in a way few adults can. He made his nieces and nephews laugh and smile. He was always ready to play with them or teach them to cook. He sincerely paid attention to their opinions. He was never too busy to thoughtfully answer their questions or respond to their concerns. He made them feel important. Come to think of it, he made us all feel special and loved. Thanks, Kevin, for enriching our lives. We will never stop thinking of you. All in heaven and on earth are fortunate. And Heaven’s menu just became much better! Kevin is survived by his parents, Cyndi Bird and Don Howell; siblings, Staci Collebrusco and her husband, Brian, Kyle Brock and his wife, Rhonda, Stephanie McCullough and her husband, Richard, Molly Blanton and Michael Blanton; nieces and nephews, Brian John, Julianna, Kayla, Bailey, Kennedy, Kade, Charlotte and Lucia; Step Grandmother, Hope Bird; Uncles, Vic and Rhone Bird, and Aunt, Rhonda Bird.
