Kevin loved his comic books, the ladies, superhero movies, dogs, snake hunting, cooking, music, drawing, his friends, and family. He attended Union Peters Elementary in the first grade and that is also when he picked up football and wrestling. He was the smallest, but toughest kid on the team which is why the football coaches and teammates nicknamed him “Rudy”, again playing this sport all thru high school. He wrestled for Union for many years stockpiling trophies along the way in this sport as well. As an outstanding athlete in baseball, football, and wrestling he was not so talented in basketball and ice skating. It was in his middle school years at Liberty where he found his true calling, “art and music.” He loved drawing cartoons, superheroes, and villain characters. In 8th grade he started a band “The Angry Gnomes” with his best friend, Trevor Dowdy and his 4-year-old brother Kolton, after being dropped by their label the band broke up but stayed on good terms. In high school he then turned his love of music and bands into a DJ career. He often volunteered his services and equipment for free to schools and friends. After graduation Kevin spent his early adult years working the produce department at Walmart and Sprouts, where he made lifelong friendships with co-workers. In his spare time, Kevin worked as a pre-k substitute teacher at Liberty Public Schools substituting for Mrs. Angie Ernst. His love of kids then would lead him to his greatest accomplishment and true passion working with special needs kids. He started out at a day center and camp for special needs kids. This opened the door for him to then get a position as a Paraprofessional at Sapulpa High School. He loved his kids and work and continued working both jobs. He absolutely loved working and training the kids for the Special Olympics and traveling to Stillwater to compete and would still be working with them until his health took a turn for the worse.Kevin recently received test results that devasted him to his very core, the worst news he could have possibly gotten, “He wasn’t Irish!” Ancestry DNA came back he was just a redheaded Englishman. So, at St. Patrick’s Day, celebrate this redheaded Englishman with the spirit of a “Leprechaun”! Funeral Memorial service to be held Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel at 12:30 pm. Donations may be made to the Special Olympic Foundation.
