Kimberly Denise Prescott's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Kimberly Denise Smolik Prescott. born April 13, 1965, and ascended to her heavenly home August 21, 2022, surrounded by her family and a host of friends in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the age of 57. She spent her life serving Jesus and now she is sharing her beautiful voice in heaven.
Born April 13, 1965, in Columbus, Nebraska to Dr. Vincent and Virgene Smolik. She had one sister, Stacy Smolik Pearson of Broken Arrow, two brothers, Chad Smolik and wife Denise of Fort Worth, Texas, and Shawn Smolik of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, plus numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews.
She and Brandon Prescott were married June 8, 1987, and were blessed with twin boys; Austin, residing at home, Skyler, residing in Oklahoma City, Grant, and Tiffany residing at home.
Most of her early years were spent growing up in Atchison, Kansas. Just a few of her many accomplishments include sewing beautiful garments by the age of 12 including her prom formal. She loved to cook and around the same age could prepare an entire meal. In high school she was a cheerleader, played in the band and occupied 1st chair as a violinist. Between her junior and senior year of high school she obtained her floral degree and as soon as she graduated high school, she opened her own flower shop named “Kimberly’s Petals and Presents.”
After her marriage to Brandon, they moved to Dallas, Texas where they attended and graduated from Christ for the Nations Bible Institute. They returned to Atchison, both enrolling in more college. Kimberly attended while pregnant with the twins and after Brandon graduated, they moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where Kimberly continued collecting caps and gowns, finally achieving her goal of becoming a college graduate and a CPA.
With education goals complete they expanded their family to include Grant and Tiffany. All was complete, the kids, the van, and her home, where she was finally able to be the homemaker she always wanted to be. When she wasn’t homeschooling, she enjoyed being in her kitchen sharing her awesome recipes and homemade creations. Her kolaches took 2nd place at the Prague, Oklahoma Polish Festival two years in a row (she was convinced 1st place was rigged)! She also enjoyed entertaining and serving her delicious food on her authentic Polish pottery. She was known for her holiday traditions and her Christmas Teas as well as many occasions and guests she opened her home for. Always concerned that no one spend a holiday alone, her home was enjoyed by many during the holidays.
Kimberly was the author of “Baby on a Budget,” expounding on budget friendly short-cuts for new mothers. She was the Director of one of Oklahoma’s long-standing food co-ops. She also ran a food pantry at Christian Family Center church that feed 200+ people per month and assisted in multiple others. She hosted prayer meetings and led worship for several ministries. She provided CPA services for several companies including Deloitte & Touche and was the CPA for Nick’s Tree Service at the time of her passing.
Though her accomplishments were many, Kimberly would tell you her greatest achievement was raising a family that serves the Lord. Her twins, Austin and Skyler graduated with engineering degrees while Grant and Tiffany continue their college education.
Kimberly’s beautiful smile and infectious laugh can never be replaced, but our comfort is in knowing that she is in heaven, and she wants us to join her there some day. She has not left us, she has simply moved ahead in time, into our futures.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Gideons International.
