Oleta or Auntie as all the cousins called her was my dad’s baby sister and he dearly loved her. Ironically, she passed on the day we buried him 13 years ago. She was a second mother to me. We shared a close bond that I will cherish. She always gave so much to her family, extended family and I am sure her friends through her loving caretaker personality. She took over as the matriarch after my grandmother was gone and we relied on that. She was a quietly generous woman(a Friday’s child) and carried herself with so much dignity and respect. Her fun sense of humor and infectious laugh will live in my heart as she does. She deserves that same dignity in her passing. I hope that she is laughing with Uncle Woody and my parents and her young heart is celebrating.
