LaDonna R. Maxwell's Obituary
LaDonna R. Maxwell, 53, passed from this life on Sunday, July 24 in Tulsa, OK due to complications from Lymphoma. LaDonna was born in Dunn, North Carolina on July 2, 1958 to Betty Jane and Earl M. Rector, Sr. When she was 9 months old her mother and father moved to Washington D.C. where she grew up until she went to college. She graduated from Oral Roberts University where she met and married her college sweetheart Randal Maxwell. Their 32 year marriage produced many wonderful adventures including their 3 children Laura, Daniel and Christopher. Her most rewarding and cherishing job was being a stay at home, basketball, volleyball, cross-country, track and orchestra mom to her 3 busy and active children. Her other true passion in life was making things pretty! She loved working with flowers, throwing parties, and decorating. She worked as a Visuals Specialist for Stein Mart where she loved dressing up the manikins and decorating the display windows. She always said that working with the manikins was like dressing up the dolls she loved so much as a child! LaDonna and Randy built their dream home together in 2005. LaDonna has put her personal touch in every room as she made things prettier than when she found them. She painted the walls, hung the pictures, picked out the furniture and accessorized her heart out! She loved the beach, especially Destin, Florida. She and her family made many memories vacationing there and at least once a year she hopped in her car and drove to Destin for a spur of the moment trip! LaDonna and Randy also loved traveling to Sedona, AZ where they enjoyed hiking trails, shopping and pink jeep tours. While her 53 years on earth where too short for her family, they will carry with them the wonderful memories she made as a devoted wife and loving mother. She left the world a little prettier than when she found it. LaDonna is survived by her husband of 32 years, Randal L. Maxwell, 3 children, Laura Burg, Daniel and Christopher Maxwell, her mother, Betty Jane Farmer, her brother, Earl M. Rector Jr., grandson, Bryce Burg, 2 dogs Stash and Gus and 2 grandpuppies, Hilti and Honey Bun. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl M Rector, Sr. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2011, 2:00 PM at Woodland Acres Baptist Church in Tulsa. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.floralhaven.com
