Larry and I became friends in San Angelo, TX, when each of us was working for Automaticd Electric in April 1969. He was from Broken Arrow and I was from Hobbs, NM. We were transferred to Garland, TX together and got apartments within a few yards of each other. We did many crazy things together. After work one day he asked me to go with him to Broken Arrow, a four hour drive. Like a crazy person, I said ok, even though we had to work the next day. We got to Broken Arrow about 8pm and visited some of his friends. I remember one guy, they called "Booger". He was some kind of relative but I don't remember how. We left Broken Arrow around 1 am. About 3 am, Larry was driving and I was asleep next to him, in the front seat. God only knows why but I woke up to see Larry asleep, hands on the wheel just about to drive us under the trailer of a semi truck. I screamed at him and he woke up and hit the brakes. I am sure we both would have been killed if I had not awakened. We then pulled over and got some rest. Needles to say, we did not make it to work that day. I went into the navy in October 1969 but stayed in touch with Larry. Everytime I got the chance, I would go to Broken Arrow and see him. We talked on the phone many times and I saw him one more time in the late 90s, Life gets in the way and I never saw him again. I was very sorry to hear of his passing. He was one great guy and a very good friend. I think he and hit it off because we were so much alike. Rest well my friend.
