Larry True Totten, age 90, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025. Born on March 5, 1935, in Winifred, Kansas, Larry was the son of Owen and Pearl Totten. He spent a lot of time during his childhood on the Totten family farm, a place he spoke of fondly throughout his life.
Larry graduated from Frankfort High School in Kansas before proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1956. Following his military service, Larry attended Kansas State University, earning his Certified Public Accountant degree. His pursuit of education continued at Tulsa Law College, where he obtained his law degree.
Larry built a successful career at GC Broach, where he worked until his retirement. He was known for his professionalism, integrity, and dedication. Outside of work, Larry cherished time with his beloved wife, Lavonne Totten, who shared 39 years as a devoted school teacher before her own retirement. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and family gatherings.
Larry had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed capturing its beauty through photography. He loved taking pictures of nature, friends, and family, creating lasting memories for those he loved. His greatest joy was spending time with Lavonne and their family.
Larry is survived by his wife, Lavonne Totten; his children Trace Totten and wife Sherry, Laura Totten and husband Dan, Susan Johnson and husband Tim, and Mark Totten and wife Dannica; his stepchildren David Smart and wife Karen, Nicki Argo and husband Jeff, and Tara Nichols and husband Clint; his sister Sharon Kessinger; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Pearl Totten, and his stepson Brian Smart.
Larry’s life was a testament to hard work, service, and love for family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
