Laura Marilyn King's Obituary
It is with a broken heart that we announce the death of Laura Marilyn King. Laura died unexpectedly on October 28. 2023 in her home. She worked for more than 40 years as a hairdresser, raising two children along with her beloved husband of 50-plus years to Jim King, who preceded her in death in October 2012. Laura was the youngest of three sisters born to George and Bernice Baber in Pineville, Missouri. Her parents and both sisters, Bonnie Nealy and Jean Carner as well as their spouses have also preceded her in death. Laura will be remembered for her kind, generous heart, lively spirit, and beautiful soul. She was an active member of Heritage Methodist Church and spearheaded the Good Samaritan Mission of bringing healthcare screenings to women without insurance at her former church, Cumberland Presbyterian. While serving as missions chair she helped provide resources to children at the local elementary schools.
At age 80 she made a pilgrimage to The Holy Lands and in the following years she traveled to Scotland, England, NY, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Sundance, Utah, and several shorter trips with friends and her dear companion Jim Bewley
She is survived by her two children LaRhonda King Whitmire and Robert James King, and his wife, Laura; her grandchildren, Bailee King and her fiancé, Brody Gore, Jared King, and Ty Whitmire; her nephews, Vincent Nealey, and Rick Carner; niece, Connie Carner, and an extensive network of great nieces and nephews as well as cousins. In addition to her bereaved family, her wide circle of friends, former clients, neighbors, church family, and others whose lives she touched are among those who will miss having her beautiful light in the world. She was deeply loved.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2023, at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Floral Haven Chapel
