LaVerne Komara's Obituary
LaVerne Edwarda Komara, 85 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed from this life on Friday, June 7, 2019 in Saint Francis Hospital with family by her side. She was born August 6, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio to her parents, Edward Frank Burns and Josephine May Burns.LaVerne was a committed mother of fifteen, a dedicated follower of Christ, and the center of our hearts. Her children remember her as a mother who was stern, yet loving. Even though taking care of them meant working overtime, she never complained and always made time for them; big meals on Sundays and holidays, road trips around the country, and church every week. LaVerne was a devout Catholic from as early as age nine, when she took her first communion. Edwarda is her chosen confirmed middle name, after her father. Religion strengthened and guided her throughout her life. Her love for travel took her many amazing places, including Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Greece, and even on an Alaskan cruise! The family took several road trips, which meant tightly packing the children in every open space in the vehicle. They visited forty nine states (Excluding Hawaii), Mexico, and Canada. The introduction of her grandchildren presented a great opportunity for LaVerne. She constantly searched for gifts for them and always had a candy stash. LaVerne lived in Ohio until her retirement from Stouffers at 61 years old. She moved with family members to Oklahoma, where she was proud to have steadily worked at Walmart for an entire twenty years. More grandchildren came to follow in the years after she moved. Her children and grandchildren were her blessings just as she was (and still is) ours. LaVerne’s perseverance, dedication, and kindheartedness echo through recollections of her. While she is gone from the earth, her love for us lives on. Stories of her keep her memory alive, and she has given us thousands to tell.LaVerne is survived by fourteen children, Karen Kuba of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Debbie Patton of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Kathy Lloyd and her husband Alan of Verdigris, Oklahoma, Donna Anderson and her husband Greg of Marysville, Ohio, Cindy Jones of Burleson, Texas, Louise Edwards and her husband George of Verdigris, Oklahoma, Loretta Leho of Las Vegas, Nevada, Laura Kee and her husband James of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, John Komara of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Tom Komara of Brimfield, Ohio, Bob Komara and his wife Michelle of Streetsboro, Ohio, Dan Komara of Kent, Ohio, Jimmy Komara of Garrettsville, Ohio, and Larry Leho and his wife Marina of Diamond, Ohio; two brothers, Ken Burns and his wife Nancy of Northfield, Ohio and Ed Burns of Valparaiso, Indiana; one sister, Sharon Toronski and her husband Rich of Stanford, North Carolina; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
