Leah C. Rutledge's Obituary
On July 16, 1966, in the little town of Tulare, in the State of California, God gave the precious gift of Leah Carol Smith to her loving and thankful parents, Davie and Carolyn Smith. Our Heavenly Father took her back home with Him on Tuesday,November 13, 2018, to live with Him forever. We cherish the priceless fifty-two years God allowed our family to enjoy with Leah.Leah attended Tulare Union High and went on to San Joaquin Valley College in Visalia, California. She passed the National Board with the dental hygiene program with a 4.0.She was a straight A. student. It is no wonder that every dentist office she worked at called her phenomenal. Leah was compassionate to her patients making them feel relaxed and very special as she cared for their needs. That was our precious Leah in everything she did—full of passion in her performance coupled with great compassionate love for people.Leah married Darwin Greenfield. This union was blessed with a loving son, Coty Greenfield and a loving daughter, Brittanie Greenfield Cherry.Leah married Jeff Rutledge and this union was blessed with a loving daughter, Avery Rutledge. Danielle Rutledge, Jeff’s daughter also became daughter to Leah.Leah was gifted with many talents. She loved to knit and crochet beautiful, intricate pieces and then gift them to family and friends. Leah was very excited and looking forward to Baby Cherry, her first grandchild due in April,2019. She was planning to knit a special blanket for her first grandchild. Leah loved to sew and had the natural talent of putting the right patterns and colors together create beautiful exquisite pieces of clothing. She especially loved sewing for her precious little daughter, Avery. Leah loved creating elegant jewelry. She loved to cook and baked the best-ever crescents for our family get-togethers. Leah studied manuals and searched information on how to fix household appliances and other household issues. She knew exactly how to fix a flat tire and recently watched her dad change the brakes on her car in hopes that she could learn how to do it for herself. She loved to learn new things at every chance. She loved to read. Leah loved music and she could sing like an angel. Being the only girl in the family, Leah was tough—she loved harassing her three brothers, Melvin, Vance, and Ryan Smith. Leah and her three brothers have had many fond hilarious memories to laugh about over the years. Leah loved fishing with her dad. She loved bringing it all home for her mom to “fry it up” and enjoy. Leah loved helping her mom in the kitchen and laughing together with each other over current funny stories or even old ones she and her mom had experienced. We will miss that gorgeous “Leah Smile” that lit up our hearts…our lives. She could light up a room by just walking into it with her charisma and her great sense of humor. We will all miss our beautiful, beautiful Leah. She has blessed our lives so profoundly. We will always and forever love her with all our hearts. We are celebrating her life here today, and we will always celebrate her life. She is very special, close to God’s heart and close to our hearts. We love you, Leah, always and forever.
