Lee Marie Brooks' Obituary
Lee Marie Brooks, affectionately known as “Grams,” passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on October 28, 1947, in Petaluma, California, to Hoyl Oran Flood and Flora Marie Adney Flood. Grams was one of six children.
She graduated from Tulsa’s Nathan Hale High School in 1965 and later earned a degree in English and literature from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, in 1995. After teaching at Bixby High School until 2002, she prioritized spending time with her grandchildren. When not involved in her grandchildren’s lives, she loved traveling, playing and coaching softball and attending college football games. She also enjoyed volunteering at her local church.
Grams was encouraging, loving, supportive, quick-witted, and loved adventure. She enjoyed traveling abroad and throughout America but always found solace and joy in returning home to her cherished friends and family. From riding roller coasters to snow skiing and zip-lining waterfalls, she embraced new experiences with enthusiasm.
Above all, her faith in Christ was the focus of her life. The highlight of her life was the 34-year marriage to Carroll Brooks. She loved her family, especially those grandchildren who held a very special place in her heart.
Grams is survived by her son, John R. Reaves, Jr., and his wife, Jodi, of Carlsbad, California; her daughter, Shahna Baugus, and her husband, Mike, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; and her son, Sejin Brooks, and his wife, Shannon, of Austin, Texas; and six grandchildren.
In addition to her immediate family, Grams is also survived by her siblings, Ernest Burk, Sam Flood, Florence (Dobin) Earp, Ted Flood, and Virgil Flood, and their spouses as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved Carroll “poppy” Her husband of over 34 years.
Services will be held at Floral Haven Rose Chapel in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, on Saturday, January 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. led by Vern Charette from First Baptist Coweta.
