Lee Ahniwake “Nicky” Collins

Lee Ahniwake “Nicky” Collins (née Woodruff) passed away at her home in Vian, Oklahoma, on August 26, 2025. A proud member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, she embraced her heritage to the fullest. Nicky was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her life was defined by love for family, deep faith, and adventure.
Born in Enid, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Billie Benge Coleman and Lynn Woodruff. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Billy Lynn Woodruff and Duane Benge; sister-in-law, Jeanette Woodruff; grandson, Derek Collins; and her beloved golden retriever, Quanah.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Eldon L. Nelson; her son, Jamie Lynn Collins and wife Cheryl; stepdaughter, Kristy Dawn Nelson; and her sister, Kande Coleman Leist and husband Fred. She was a loving grandmother to Katelyn Collins Anderson and Bradon Collins, and proud great-grandmother to Brightin Anderson, Benjamin Anderson, Braxton Collins, and Caleb Collins. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Nicky lived in Michigan, Florida, and Texas before returning to her Oklahoma homeland. She cherished time with her dog, found peace in her yard, and treasured moments with loved ones.
