Lenard V. Nolan's Obituary
Lenard Vern Nolan passed away in the arms of his loving wife, on his birthday, October 30, 2014. Lenard was born October 30, 1937, in Adair County, OK, the son of Fate and Thresa Nolan. Lenard is survived by his wife, Ann Vestal Nolan, the wonderful child he took into his life, Vicki Cheeseman of Tulsa, her husband Bob and their sons, Baxter and Simon. In addition to his living brothers Don, George, and L.B., Lenard was loved and survived by his many nieces and nephews. His brother in law, Stan, wife Claudia, and their four children live in Boston, New Hampshire, and Portland, Oregon. He was predeceased by his brother Dean and sister Billie Jean, and by his parents.Lenard touched the lives of hundreds of students as one of the longest tenured teachers in the Tulsa Public Schools for more than 43 years. He brought the excitement of mathematics and the value of strong and forthright life choices to all who passed through Woodrow Wilson Junior High School until his retirement in 2003. As a teacher, tutor, and friend, his sense of humor, straightforward demeanor, and wealth of stories, poems, and anecdotes gave everyone around him pleasure and a smile. Lenard and Ann loved their home, flowers, and gentle times vacationing around the country, with a special spot in their hearts for Branson, MO, in their retirement years.Services for Lenard will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow, at 3:00 pm Saturday, November 1. Family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM on Friday October 31,2014. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association and the Arthritis Foundation.All who knew and loved Lenard are grateful that his physical suffering is over, and that he is resting in peace.
