Leo Paul Burgard's Obituary
Leo Paul Burgard was born in Evans City, Pennsylvania on September 1st, 1938. He graduated from Evans City High School, then attended Elohim Bible School followed by New Tribes missionary training before serving as a missionary in the highlands of Papua New Guinea for 11 years. Leo passed into God’s glory on July 13th, 2024. He was in his own home, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by Linda, his wife of sixty-six years, five children: Peter (Vicki), Barry (Renee), Lynn, Paul (Sharon), Dennis (Sandra), and his two sisters Eileen and Carolyn. Leo also has 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Sylvester and Emma (Weimer) Burgard, his brothers George, Dick, and Dave, his sisters Leatrice Gravatt and Emily Springer, and daughter-in-law Victoria Lynn (Milam) Burgard.
During his lifetime, Leo was a missionary, carpenter, and pastor, and helped start several churches.
He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Tuesday, July 16th, at Floral Haven Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 17th, at East Tulsa Bible Chapel with a committal service to follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Garden of Prayer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Tulsa Bible Chapel, 1215 S 135th E Ave, Tulsa, OK 74108, to Crystal Burgard (Leo's granddaughter) who is continuing Leo's legacy of mission work.
