Leon Edward McGrew Sr., 79, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away on August 24, 2022. He was born on February 15, 1943 to parents Calvin and Gladys McGrew. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn McGrew; his children Carrie and Read Obituary
Soon after I joined the family from the very first time I met Uncle Leon he made me feel loved and very much a part of the family. He loved to tease me just like he did everyone else and I loved every minute of it. From going deer hunting early on staying in our campers down by Wagner to lots of fun bowling, playing Wahoo and Uno, the family reunions that he loved, the lake, and lots of get togethers and on to our night time phone conversations when Ed was still working and had gone to bed early I always loved him and enjoyed him. He was definitely a favorite of mine. Miss you Uncle Leon and all the fun we all had because of you. Suzie
He took me with him fishing down to Fort Gibson below the dam. Him and a bunch of other boys. He told me to stay at camp. When the lady camped next to us realized I was alone she fed me a big breakfast. After breakfast I went down to the water and went hand over hand on a cable that run down below the dam to where they were at. When Uncle Leon turned around and saw me there he had a fit and was mad at me. Right after I got down there they sounded the alarm to open the gates and you don’t have long to get back to shore. I had to hang on to the back of his neck to get back to shore because the water was coming up. When we got back to camp they had a can of green beans and a can of peaches and they weren’t going to give me any because I had gotten breakfast. I started crying and they gave me some to shut me up. After that he would always take me either pond fishing or frog gigging at night. Then he got me into hunting. Rabbit, deer, squirrel. Did that for many years. Good memories that will be with me until I join him. Always loved my Uncle Leon. Sure gonna miss him! Ed
