Celebrating the Blessed Life of L.A. Parker, 1934-2017 In Loving Memory of L.A. Parker of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. L.A. went to be with his Lord on June 14, 2017. He was born on August 17, 1934 to Leonard Arthur and Bessie Victoria Jackson – Parker of Ardmore Oklahoma. L.A. was the baby of a 18 children. (15 children from his Mother and Dad) and 3 children from his Dad’s previous marriage, after losing his wife.L.A. lost his dad at 12 years of age. He quit school, at the age of 15; Although, He was in the 11th grade, after being moved up-from (1st-3rd grade) Since he was so advanced; learning from his older siblings. He started helping his widowed mother make a living in 1949, working at an Ice Cream Factory, and also as a Service Station Attendant in Ardmore, Ok… While his mother, took in ironing jobs. He met the LOVE of His Life, Norma Jean Hice of Ada, Ok. They dated 4 months and were married December 12th, 1953, in the home of their Co-workers that set up their “BLIND DATE!” They Celebrated 64 years together! God blessed them with 3 Beautiful Sons, that they were So Proud Of! David Parker of Broken Arrow, Bruce Parker of Porter, and Marty Parker of Collinsville. 3 Daughter-in-laws; Rhonda, Lesli, and Pamela 6 Grandchildren: Brandon, Amy, Breanna, Austin, Stephanie & Eric Gabriel and 9 Great-Grandchildren: Cole, Amaris, Maddox, Remy, Nola, and Frankie. Parker and Lexi and Skyler Lane. L.A. is preceded in death by his loving parents Leonard Arthur and Bessie V. Parker, Much-loved baby boy Marty and Precious daughter-in-law Rhonda. L.A. worked many different types of jobs; moving from place to place, to provide for his family. His Life was an Example of a “Labor of Love” Giving his talent and FREE Service of Painting, for his MANY family members homes and 7 Churches he attended, over the course of his life.He served in the Churches as a Deacon, Teacher, Musician and Singer. He played the guitar and harmonica. He worked in the Oil fields for Halliburton Oil Co. in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was a Paint Contractor, Builder, Truck Driver that hauled dirt and sand to build the Highway from Oklahoma City to Tulsa. He was an Inventor of Safety Door Locks and Auto Insurance & Registration Holder/ Visor Organizer; that was INSPIRED by a VISION from GOD.He and Norma opened a Ice cream/sandwich shop, run by them and their daughter-n-law Pamela. He turned his Painting Business over to his elder sons when he started building houses in the 70’s. He worked with ALL his sons, painting over the years. He lived a Happy Full Life, for the Lord, and was an Inspiration to So Many! Norma always called him, “Her Gentleman’s- Gentleman!!!”Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:000 PM, Sunday, June 18th, Floral Haven Funeral Home.Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, June 19th, Floral Haven Rose Chapel with committal service will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens
