LEROY ROBERT ENGLANDThe fourth child of Joseph Richard England and Mildred Ellen (Groves) England, LeRoy Robert England was born on April 14, 1936 at 6:18 AM in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The family resided in Spencer, Oklahoma where they were members of the Spencer Methodist Church. He attended grade school in Spencer, Oklahoma, Junior High School at Webster, and High School at Northeast, both in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.He attended the University of Oklahoma from September 1954 to February 1959,and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering in May 1959.He was a member of the Engineer’s Club, a member of the St. Pat’s Council, a member of the Petroleum Engineer’s Club, in which he served as treasurer, and a member of PET. During his college years, he worked in various sorority kitchens for room and board. During the summers he worked various jobs that included working in a print shop, as a roustabout, at service stations, and two summers for Schlumberger in Ardmore, Oklahoma. In August 1959, he went on active duty with the U S Air Force (he was a member of the Air National Guard). He attended basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas and electronics school at Lowry AFB in Denver, Colorado. He was released from active duty on May 17, 1960 and after serving in the reserves received an honorable discharge on May 17, 1965. He went to work for Pan American Petroleum Corporation in May 1960 in Spearman, Texas as a roustabout and was promoted to Junior Engineer, moving to Pampa, Texas on September 1, 1960. On his first day in the office at Pan American in Pampa, he met Verlene Mae Tinkler (his soulmate), on Tuesday, September 6, 1960. She worked next door at the Highland Drug Store at the soda fountain/lunch counter. She had a terrible sunburn that she had received on Labor Day weekend and wasn’t feeling her best. Despite the fact, that he ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, split pea soup, and a glass of milk, she still agreed to go on a date with him. He proposed to Verlene on December 9, 1960 and she accepted (despite his odd lunch choices). They were married on January 20, 1961, at the Kellerville Baptist Church in Kellerville, Texas and settled in Pampa, Texas where he went to work for Kewanee Oil Company. Their first child, Robert Andrew England was born on November 28, 1961. Carrie Jo England was born on November 16, 1964. Kewanee transferred Leroy to Welch, Texas in August 1965. The family settled in Lamesa, Texas until August 1972 when they were transferred to Odessa, Texas. Kewanee transferred the family to Wichita, Kansas in September 1975 and then to the current family home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma in May 1976. On September 1, 1978, LeRoy went to work for K&A Energy Consultants in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he had various positions until he was promoted to Vice-President in charge of the Tulsa office in 1985. He held that position until K&A closed in February 1996. He established EBS & ASSOCIATES, INC. with two former K&A employees on February 16, 1996. EBS & ASSOCIATES, INC. celebrated its eighteenth anniversary on February 16, 2018. LeRoy and Verlene celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on January 20, 2018. LeRoy was preceded in death by his father Joseph, mother Mildred, sister Clarissa, and brother Raymond. He is survived by his brother John (85 yrs.) of Saginaw, Michigan. He is also survived by his loving wife, Verlene of Broken Arrow, Ok, his son, Robert Andrew (Andy) England and his wife Linda of Dallas, Texas, and his daughter, Carrie Jo Chandler and her husband Bill of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Austin Robert Chandler, Timothy Joseph England, Laura Nicole Chandler, Matthew Raymond England, Christopher Walter England, and Joseph Drake Chandler, as well as one great-grandson, Ryon Henley Chandler. We will all miss him dearly.Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
