LeRoy C Link's Obituary
LeRoy Camden Link, the eldest child of Roy S. and Edith (Bowers) Link, was born March 10, 1918 in Forrestville, Virginia. He graduated from Covington High School in Covington, Oklahoma in 1937 and on November 19, 1938 he was united in marriage with Florence Aline Surrett in Fairview, Oklahoma. After graduation, LeRoy moved to Washington, D.C. and was employed by the Hot Shops for three years. He then moved east of Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he farmed until joining the U.S. Navy and serving in the Philippines during World War II. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After he was discharged, he worked at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, OK and in 1960 moved to Wichita Falls, Texas to work at Sheppard Air Force Base. He retired after 30 years of Federal Service and became the building superintendent for the First National Bank Building in Wichita Falls for another nine years.LeRoy loved sports. He played baseball, golf and horseshoes and fished and hunted with family and friends. He was a pitcher for the Frisco Railroad softball team and played in the VAFB Golf Tournament in Enid. LeRoy also loved to bowl. One of his greatest joys was his induction into the Wichita Falls Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1964. He was also a longtime member of the BPO Elks U.S.A. Also surviving him are Sister and Brother-In-Law, Frances and Raymond Elliott of Midwest City, OK; Sister, Shirley Wyssmann of Spearman, KS; Brother and Sister-In-Law, Richard and Joan Link of Tulsa; Sister-In-Law, Ruth Link of Covington, OK and Daughter-In-Law and caregiver, Sherry Link of Wichita Falls, TX. He was preceded in death by his Parents, his Brother James and Brother-In-Law John Wyssmann.
