Leroy Francis Qualey Jr.'s Obituary
Leroy Francis Qualey Jr., 76, of Verdigris, Oklahoma passed away June 9, 2020 at the Jack C. Montgomery Medical Center, Muskogee, OK. He was born June 28, 1943 in Lubbock, Texas to Leroy Francis Qualey, Sr. and Violet Mae Qualey.
Leroy (Pete) graduated from Southwestern Assembly of God High School, Waxahachie, TX. In 1963. He entered the military in 1966 and graduated from Officer Candidate School, Colorado National Guard, in Golden, CO in 1969. He attained the rank of Captain and was in the Special Forces, Special Operations division. He retired from the Army National Guard in 1981. He was a member of the DAV. His occupations were primarily truck driver and HVAC technician.
He was very active in his early life enjoying skiing, scuba diving, and hunting. However, he was disabled secondary to a work accident at the age of 41 and could no longer enjoy many of the things he loved. He served in the bus ministry at Life Church in Mobile, Alabama for 20 years and was loved by many of the people he served. He enjoyed reading in his later years, especially western novels. He was currently a member of Lifechanger Church in Claremore.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents. Pete is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eloise Qualey, daughters Rebekah Coder of Catoosa and Leah Keltner of Tulsa, and five grandchildren – Jackson Coder, Reagan Coder, Gabriel Keltner, Hope Keltner, and Cash Keltner.
An internment service will be held Friday, June 19th at 11:00AM at Floral Haven Cemetery preceded by visitation from 10:00AM – 10:30AM at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 19 at 6:00 PM at Lifechanger Church in Claremore.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
