Leslie Keith Gammons' Obituary
Leslie Gammons, age 68, a devoted family man and Navy Veteran, passed away on August 19, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on April 11, 1956, in New Albany, Indiana, Leslie's fascination with planes began early and never wavered. His passion for aviation led him to serve as a plane captain in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS John F. Kennedy with the VF-14 Tophatters squadron. After his service, he continued his career as an A&P mechanic with American Airlines starting in March 1988, where he became known for his remarkable ability to fix anything.
Outside of work, Leslie was an active member of the Tulsa Skyhawks Soaring Club, and was a licensed glider pilot for more than 40 years. He also enjoyed sailing, competitive shooting, playing pool, and above all, spending time with his family. Known for his sense of humor, Leslie was a man who brought warmth and laughter to those around him. He was also known for his appreciation of a good beer, often sharing a cold one with friends and family.
Leslie's family was his greatest joy. He is survived by his loving wife, Penny Gammons; his daughters, Kasia Jordan, Kristin Gammons, and Kourtney Krejci; and several grandchildren who were the light of his life. His family remembers him as a man who put them first, always willing to share a laugh and lend a hand with his characteristic generosity.
A celebration of Leslie’s life will be held at Floral Haven Rose Chapel on Friday September 6, 2024 at 2pm.
Leslie's legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
