Having known Les since I was a kid I have always looked up to him and not just because he was so tall. He was one of the kindest and thoughtful Gentlemen I have known in my 40+ years in the spill business. When I was just a teen and headed out to L.A. from Detroit in my old ’73 Duster we broke down near Tulsa and were pretty well stranded being in a strange town with very little money and not knowing where to find a decent mechanic. So I called my Dad back in Detroit looking for some advice and he had me call Les for some direction support. He directed us to ACME and within an hour he had one of his guys welding my strut back in place and got us back on the road. I can’t express how much his kindness and help meant to me then and ever since. I got to know him better in the years since and really came to appreciate what a rare and wonderful man he was. My Dad, Dave, was very sad to hear of the passing of his old buddy and fellow SCAA Board Member and Chairman. To his family we send our love and will always keep Les in our thoughts and hearts.
