Leta Fay Meiser's Obituary
Leta Fay (Gumm) Mesier, 79, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024. Leta was born on July 7, 1945, in Tulsa, OK, to Russell Edgar Gumm and Fay Edith (Collmer) Gumm. She was a 1963 graduate of Central High School in Tulsa and went on to complete a massage therapy program. In addition, Leta pursued a real estate program, earning her real estate license before opening her own business, BodyShop Massage, in Broken Arrow, where she specialized in acupuncture and licensed massage therapy.
Leta dedicated her career to helping others as a chiropractic assistant, massage therapist, and real estate professional. Her passions extended beyond work—she loved square dancing, line dancing, and country music. Leta was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, where her vibrant personality and caring spirit were cherished by all who knew her. She had a contagious smile that brightened every room she entered, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her love for animals was well-known, especially for her beloved Chihuahua, Princess.
Family meant everything to Leta. She was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Though she was formally diagnosed with dementia in 2015, her family later realized the signs had appeared earlier. Despite the challenges, she remained strong, moving in with her daughter and son-in-law in 2017. Later, she transitioned to Sand Plum Assisted Living Facility, where she found joy in activities and crafts. In mid-2023, she moved to Cedarcrest Nursing Home Facility. Through it all, her daughter provided exceptional care, visiting nearly every day.
Leta is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Fay Gumm; her brother, Jewel Gumm and her husbands, Bill Mauck, Roger Spainhower, and Chester Meiser. She leaves behind her brother Kenneth Gumm, daughter Glatha Agee (Roger) and her son Michael Spainhower (Candia); grandchildren Tayla Fleck (Drew), Colton Agee (Vanessa), Hunter Agee, Bethann Simmons (Jason), Ross Spainhower (Taylor), and Dakota Spainhower; and great-grandchildren Taytum Fleck, Larry (Trey) Fleck, and seven others.
Leta will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth, kindness, and love will be especially missed during the holidays when her presence was always a source of joy. Her beautiful, contagious smile will live on in the memories of all who knew her.
