Lewis (aka Chuck to his family) was an amazing friend to me.
We first met when I moved into the apartment next to him and we instantly became friends.
We would sit for hours talking about his life, from his many years as a teacher both in the Tulsa area and in the state of Indiana to the many adventures he had as a child and an adult.
He often spoke of his wife who passed away at a young age and how he tried to give his children all they wanted and worked multiple jobs while still working as a teacher. He loved his children, his family, his friends, and coworkers so very much but also loved his students and would recite a special poem from his classes about surrounding himself with beauty.
Lewis loved to have beautiful things around him and loved to bargain shop, read books, cook, draw, and crochet and his cat Mocky. He was so very proud of his home and would give tours when people came for visits. In the tours, he would tell of each item and how he had found it, and the story behind it.
In the end, Lewis told me he was not scared of death that he knew he would be going to heaven, and was settled in his life.
I will forever cherish my time with Lewis and will never forget him. Fly high my dear friend, fly high I will love you forever.
