Lilian De Paris' Obituary
Lilian De Paris was born on June 15, 1921 to John T. and Agnes Whitlow in Crewe, Cheshire, Great Britain and passed away on February 12, 2011. She spent much of her growing years riding bicycles with her friend Elsie across the British countryside staying at various hostelries along the way. She was a veteran British soldier of World War II in the ATS division when she met her husband Augustino DeParis in the mid 1940s. They were married May 31, 1945 in Great Britain and she soon relocated to New York via ocean liner. As Augie was a New York City fireman, they took up residence in a neighborhood built just for firefighters in Bayside, NY. She worked for the British Consulate in Manhattan for a short time before settling down as a homemaker and giving birth to her daughter Pam. She lived in Bayside for 60 years before moving to Owasso, Oklahoma in 2006 to be near her daughter. Lilian loved to tell her World War II adventure stories to her family and friends, and was an avid Canasta player with her neighbors in Bayside. She also made many friends who miss her at the Baptist Retirement Village in Owasso. She was predeceased by her husband Augustino in 1999, and she leaves her daughter Pam Adams and her son-in-law Russell of Owasso.
