Lillie Mae holds such a huge space in my childhood memories growing up at Garnett Church of Christ. I always thought of her as another grandma. One of my earliest memories is her singing, "My God is so BIG! So strong and so mighty! There's nothing my God cannot do!" When I was a teen, she continued to show me so much love and warmth. I loved her so much.
Beverly and I always enjoyed Wallace and Lilly. We met them at a Model A tour here in Tulsa and visited with them when we could but sadly lost touch. They were both a joy to be around and were great people. RIP
She was a real gem for sure. We loved serving together. She and Connie loved my children like there’s when they were in there class.
My fondest memory with Lillie was we would be working on cleaning the kitchen, or serving a meal for a funeral or planning vbs. But if it was around 11:30 or 12, she would say she had to go whether we were through or not! Why? She had to leave to make Wallace a sandwich. ❤️ I love that and I’d laugh. (Although me being a 80’s wife I’d be like he can’t make his own sandwich? But I loved that and away she would go. Wallace was pretty special to as well as Connie and there whole family. We loved serving together and me some Ms Lillie our laughs and hugs.
My favorite memory of Mrs. Lillie was over 40 yeara ago when she stayed with me in the hospital due to severe asthma. I was so afraid but she provided calm and comfort which I will always remember. I was blessed to exchange energy with her one more time the day before she went to be with Jesus. I am so grateful for Mrs. Lillie's demonstration of Christ's love through her life. May Mrs. Lillie enjoy her reward!
