Linda Deerdoff's Obituary
Linda Carrol Deerdoff, 73, was born on November 9, 1946 and passed on July 9, 2020.
Linda had an in-home daycare for many years until she ‘retired’ and started working with her son, Charles, at The Original Coney Island. Linda enjoyed all the babies who passed through her doors through the years, but she was most happy when she was working at the Coney shop where she could interact those she probably wouldn’t have considered ‘customers’ but rather friends who came to visit often. She had a group of police officers who would give Linda gifts on birthdays and at Christmas. There were the numerous ‘East Siders’ who had graduated with her children at East Central High School. Linda even befriended Garth Brooks who would kiss and hug her every time he visited the Coney.
When she was seven years old, Linda, her sister and 2 cousins got to sing “I’ll Fly Away” on the radio. That song remained one of her favorites for the rest of Linda’s life, especially the version sung by Alan Jackson.
Linda loved the outdoors. She took great pleasure in tending to her flower gardens. She also loved feeding and watching the birds that would visit her yard. She would speak to them as though they were her own children.
She also loved her grand babies with all she had in her. Each and every one meant the world to Linda and she would have done anything for them.
