Linda Godfrey's Obituary
Linda Camille Godfrey, 72, passed away December 7th at her Broken Arrow home, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with cancer. Linda was born on November 26, 1946 in Texarkana, TX, but spent most of her childhood in Burlington, IA. Raised as the daughter of Ezra and Wanda Smith, she married Gerald Godfrey in Omaha, NE on August 19, 1962, and they raised their family in Iowa City, IA.Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents, Sherman and Lyla Graham. She is survived by her husband, Gerald; two sons, Kerry Godfrey and his wife Julie, and Chris Godfrey and Suzanne Hutton; five grandchildren, Jordan Rock, Kelsey Spencer, Jacob Godfrey, Kendall Godfrey, and Graham Godfrey; three great-grandchildren with another on the way; four brothers; four sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.Linda led the Medical Graphics department at the University of Iowa for a number of years, pioneering the use of new technologies for graphic communications. After moving to Tulsa in the early 1980s, she launched Comm-Arts, Inc., as a service bureau producing slide graphics and commercial graphics. Comm-Arts evolved into a full service marketing agency and Linda remained an owner of the business until her death. She also founded Visual FX, a Tulsa large-format printing company. Known as a talented and determined businesswoman, Linda led her companies with aplomb and influenced many people through her leadership. She was a long-time member of the Central Church of the Nazarene and supported numerous charities and causes over the years, including ensuring a good Christmas for a local family in need.The family requests that memorials be made to the Salvation Army’s “Forgotten Angels” program.Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 11 from 4 pm – 8 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home.Services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, December 12 at Central Church of the Nazarene.
