Linda Sue Smith's Obituary
Linda Sue Smith, passed away April 13,2024, at Saint Francis Hospital South in Tulsa. She was born in Booneville, AR, on November 8, 1939, to Lowell Doyle Jordan and Landreth Celia Cauthron. She graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, OK in 1955. She married her husband of 48 years, David Carlton Smith, on November 25, 1960, in Tulsa, OK. From 1961 to 1963, she lived in San Antonio, TX while her husband served his country in the United States Army. She and her husband moved back to Tulsa, OK in 1963. There she worked as a dental assistant and later as an office administrator for Dr. Donald E. Loveless Sr., Dr. Michael Maddox and Dr. Richard Scott. She retired from Saint Francis Health System in 2007 after 29 years of service. She later worked at her daughter and son-in-law’s company—Automated Mail Service in Tulsa, OK. She was active with her daughter’s band and soccer activities and never missed a school event. She loved having lunch with her friends and never missed an opportunity to check out Nordstrom Rack for bargains. At Christmas, she loved giving her family gifts which she had purchased on QVC. Those gifts were always purchased in bulk and everyone in her family could expect to unwrap the exact same thing (including wrapping one for herself). She was a kind woman who never met a stranger. She was a long-time member of the Baptist church. She loved her dog (Tuck), anything to do with Elvis, the outdoors, gardening and watching her granddaughter and grandson play sports. She will be missed very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell Doyle Jordan and Landreth Celia Jordan, and her husband, David Carlton Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Carla Covey (and husband Michael) of Broken Arrow, OK; her grandchildren, Reese Covey and Peyton Covey; and her brother, Tom Jordan (and wife Geneva) of Mason, OH.
A memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, at Floral Haven Chapel in Broken Arrow, OK, with Rev. Jerome Morgan presiding.
