L.Laneer Ham's Obituary
L. Laneer Ham (96), of Tulsa died July 26, 2018. Graveside services will be held in Minco, Ok. Laneer was born on January 27, 1922 in Stillwater, Ok., the oldest of 3 sons born to Jesse & Charlena Ham. He graduated from Stillwater High School in 1939. He attended Oklahoma State University before joining the Air Force during World War II. He was a B-24 lead bombardier in the 8th Air Force stationed in Bungay, England. He flew 2 missions on D-Day, June 6, 1944, the day the Americans invaded France. After the war, he returned to Oklahoma State University where he met his future wife, Edna Jean Wegener, of Minco, Ok. They were married on September 28, 1946 in Minco. He graduated from Oklahoma State in 1948 and accepted a job with Gulf Oil Corp. He was with Gulf for 35 years and was promoted through various management jobs to the position of Sr. Director, International Personnel which he held until his retirement in 1983. Laneer & Jean had two children, Richard & Susan. He lived his life in a quiet way with straight forward honesty, integrity and hard work, for which he was respected by all. He was a kind & loving man with a special pride in his family, his country & his work. His life was well lived-an example to all. He moved with his career to Hobbs,New Mexico; Tulsa, Ok; Denver, Colo.; London, England; Pittsburgh, Pa.; Los Angeles, Calif. and Houston, Texas. He & Jean moved to Tulsa in 1998 to be near their daughter, Susan Oyler and family. Laneer was an avid golfer & enjoyed this hobby until he had a stroke in Houston in 1996. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Charlena Ham; his wife, Jean & his son, Richard; & is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Susan & Barry Oyler of Tulsa; two grand-daughters, Kristen Fennema & husband Gary of Tulsa and Elizabeth Galegar & husband Chris of Katy, Texas & Great Grandson Cooper Galegar; two brothers, Ronald Ham of Albuquerque, N.M. & Gordie Ham of Oklahoma City and numerous nieces & nephews.The family would like to thank the staff of Montereau Chateau and St Francis Hospice for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 6767 S. Mingo, Tulsa, Ok.
