Lois Mae Cross' Obituary
Lois Mae (Hetletvedt) Cross-Garoutte passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 30, 2015 after a heroic battle with lymphoma, surrounded by loving family and friends. Lois was born on a farm in Tuttle, North Dakota to Anna and Christ Hetletvedt on July 12, 1936. Lois graduated Valedictorian from Tuttle High School and attended the University of Jamestown. After college, Lois moved to Houston, Texas to work as a secretary at Amoco Production Company then moved to Tulsa in 1969 where she has lived ever since.. Lois is preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Kenneth K. Cross, her parents, Christ and Anna Hetletvedt; Sister Laverne, Sister Helen, Brother, Donald, and Brother Marvin. Lois is survived by her husband of 22 years, Leon Garoutte; sister Ann Kay Ochsner and her husband Wilbert of Wing, ND; sister Alvina Miller of Tuttle, ND; sister Butch Etsey of Quinton, Ok; two daughters; Charlene Stoltzner and husband Thomas of Broken Arrow, Ok and Kim Wagner of Plano, Tx; Step children, Aaron Cross of Houston, Tx, Parker Cross and his wife Marion of Denton, Tx; Keith Garoutte and wife Cathey of Broken Arrrow, OK and Jana Hamit and husband Bill of Grove, Ok; Lois grandchildren, Kirsten Gaddis and husband Nick of Broken Arrow, Ok, Scott Wagner of Plano, Tx, and Patrick Stoltzner of Broken Arrow, OK.; step grandchildren, Wendy Summers from West Orange, NJ;Lara Cross from Houston, Tx; Eric Cross of Little Elm, Tx, Allyson Cross of Fort Worth, Tx, Amanda Hardt of Tulsa, Ok, Curt Brassel and wife Christine of Tulsa, Ok, Stacey Brasel Wolfe of Jenks, Ok, and Brandi Coleman of Tulsa, OK; Lois also had 7 great grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews. Lois’ passions were butter-brickle ice cream, painting, reading and teaching the bible from preschool Sunday school to the Bethel Bible Series, donating over 16 gallons of blood, and volunteering. Lois volunteered at Oaks Indian Mission, Grissom Elementary, St. Francis hospital, Lutheran Brotherhood, Hawthorne Park and at Bethany Lutheran Church where she was the first female President of the congregation. Service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 10:00 am at Fellowship Lutheran Church located at 6727 S. Sheridan Road, Tulsa, OK 74133. In lieu of flowers, please donate blood to the American Red Cross, donate to Oaks Indian Mission 155 N. Military Road, Oaks, OK 74359 or donate to a charity of your choice.
