Lola Suggs' Obituary
Lola Vern (Cole) Suggs, 98, went to her Heavenly home on August 2, 2019. She was born April 21, 1921, in Bartlesville, OK to Code and Ella (Proctor) Cole. Raised in Stigler, OK, she graduated from Stigler High School in May 1939. Two weeks later, she married Robert Hendrix Suggs, who she had met at her father’s skating rink when she was 16. Of this union, three children were born: Jo Ella (Suggs) Wright, Robert David Suggs and Marilyn (Suggs) Lester.She and Bob moved to Hawthorne , CA in the early 40’s and lived there for 19 years. Bob worked for North American Aviation, and when the Tulsa branch was opened, he transferred to Tulsa so they could be closer to their parents in Stigler.Lola gave her heart to Jesus as young girl and was a member of First Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, OK. She was a lifelong homemaker who loved her God and her family above all else. She and Bob enjoyed volunteering at the Broken Arrow Senior Center for many years. She was also a member of T.O.P.S. for over 40 years.Lola was preceded in death by her parents, her one sister, Billie Jean (Cole) Holt, a granddaughter, Lori Wright Bender, and her loving husband, Bob, after 68 years of marriage.Lola is survived by her daughter, Jo Ella Wright and son-in-law Tom Wright; son David Suggs and daughter-in-law Linda Suggs; and daughter Marilyn Lester and son-in-law Jeff Lester; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Lavonna Blan of Verdigris, OK and Wanda Murray of Lake Havasu, AZ; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.The family wishes to thank the staff of Village Health Care Center in Broken Arrow for their care of mom for the past 10 years. A special thanks to Kindful Hospice for their care of the family and Mom during her last days.
