Lorna Ann Anderson's Obituary
Lorna Ann Anderson, 77, passed away October 16, 2014 in Tulsa, Ok. She was born February 7, 1937 in Moline, IL to Edward James and Mary Ann (Mass) Shamasko.Precious Lorna was a wonderfully deep and strikingly beautiful person inside and out, and those who were privileged to have known her at any time during her 77 beloved years on this earth would readily affirm that. Like most of us, she had a multitude of complexities to her extraordinary character depending upon with whom she was dealing and what the purpose may have been. Exceedingly direct and professional when involved with matters of business, fiercely loyal and deeply loving with family and friends closest to her. As a daughter she honored her parents as if they were royalty and in their later years would do anything and everything to care for and assist them when their health finally failed them. As a sister her love ran uniquely deep and steadfastly true, though both had their differences regarding personal goals and desires in life, she was blood through and through. As a wife, she gave her all and stayed true to her vows with love, motivation, support and advice- as well as being one half of the best looking couple on the dance floor. As a mother, her love was boundless and her guidance was vast. She instilled virtuous principles and would stop at nothing to provide the best for her son. She absolutely loved her job at United Airlines working in reservations at the Quad Cities Airport. This was at a time when one worked the front desk dealing with the customer face-to-face as well as taking phone calls. She was offered a management position with United which would have required her to go to Chicago for training and possible later relocation, but instead she chose to remain close to home and family at the local reservation desk, at the loss of a promising airline career. Her personal interests were music and acting. Although a vocation in those fields was never to be realized, her passion for such things could best be seen when playing the piano and singing at home, or feeling as one with an actor when watching stage and movie performances that truly moved her. She came closest to finding a career in the field (although more on the business side) in March of 1977, when she worked at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, their grand opening year as assistant to the General Manager. Speaking as her son, Lorna was not only an incredible mother to me – in later years we were the very best and closest of friends. Our relationship was a very special and unusual one which continued far beyond the normal timeframe for that of most mothers and sons. In some ways brought on by her medical issues and in other ways from mutual support – but in every way by the deepest possible sense of unconditional love. I will miss her face, her smile and the wisdom carried by her voice with every part of my being. May God embrace your soul my sweet mother. Survived by Son, Steven Edward Anderson; Sister, Ellen (Shamasko) Gallego. She was preceded in death by Husband, Ray C. Anderson; Parents, Edward James and Mary Ann (Mass) Shamasko. Visitation will be 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, October 21st, Floral Haven Funeral Home, Broken Arrow. Rosary service will be 7:00 PM, Tuesday, October 21st, Floral Haven Funeral Home, Broken Arrow.
