Louis William Kubena's Obituary
Louis W. Kubena of Broken Arrow, passed away January 24, 2015 at home. Family visitation will be 4:00 PM ~ 6:00 PM, Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Floral Haven Funeral Home, and, funeral services will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Reverend Tim Drier of Our Savior will officiate. Interment will follow with military rites at the Heritage Mausoleum at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens. Lunch will be served at 11:00 AM, immediately following the interment. He was born October 7, 1933, in Shiner, Texas, to the late Louis J and Josephine (Balajka) Kubena. He graduated from St. Ludmila’s Academy in 1951. Louis joined the U.S. Air Force on March 13, 1953. He was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio until November, 1954. He was sent to Nancy France, where he served until his discharge, in February 18, 1957. After his discharge from the Air Force, he moved to Corpus Christi. There, Louis was employed part-time at Atlantic Refining, while he attended Durham Business College. Upon graduation in 1961, he was employed full-time in the accounting office at Atlantic Refining, until the company moved to Houston. He was employed as a store accountant for the farm branch of International Harvester. Having been raised on a farm, he enjoyed the interaction with the farmers in the area, the new methods of farming and the advancement of farm equipment. He left International Harvester in September 1966, to relocate to Tulsa. Louis enjoyed many years of employment at Ozark Mahoney as an oil and gas accountant until he retired August 31, 1989. Louis lived life to the fullest, being a hard working, energetic man. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, playing cards and playing dominoes. He had a special love for animals and will be greatly missed by Prissy and Randi-Dandi. Louis’s unwaivering faith and love for God, gave him the courage and determination to endure several years of health problems without complaint. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Broken Arrow Seniors. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Brandt Kubena, sister Lillian Korenek of Shiner, Texas, niece Jo Ann Arlitt of Houston; nephews, Thomas Korenek of San Antonio and Harvey Korenek of Shiner, Texas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews on the Brandt side of the family, that he loved dearly. Louis is preceded in death by his father, Louis Kubena (November 3, 1973), mother, Josephine Kubena (May 8, 1994), brother Eugene Kubena (April 2, 1986), niece Kathleen Simpson (June 1, 2003), and nephew Eugene Kubena (September 26, 2013).Memorial gifts may be made to SPCA, The Lutheran Hour or the charity of your choice.
