Louise Ivey's Obituary
Louise Ivey was born on July 10, 1929, in Kiamicia, Texas to Ceasar and Arizona McPherson. She graduated from Troupe Beauty School, received her license in Cosmetology and operated a thriving salon in her home for over thirty years while also working as a Mary Kay Consultant.Throughout the years, Louise enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing the piano, shopping, fishing, and traveling to see her family. She had a heart for people who could not advocate for themselves, which led her and son, Walter to volunteer as Ombudsman with the City of Tulsa.Louise was a devout Christian who attended Christ Gospel Church with her husband, Jessie “J.D.” Ivey, where for a period of time she served as deaconess. Shortly after his passing in 2007, Louise’s health began to decline which led to her being home bound until she received her wings on September 22, 2019.Louise is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-eight years, J.D. Ivey; her son Timothy Lewis Armstrong; her daughter Sharon “Ruth” Atkins; and her four older siblings – Eva Lowe, Jessie Mae Miller, Curtis McPherson, and Elizabeth Carey.Louise leaves to cherish her memory: her loving children: Walter Armstrong Jr. (Wanda) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Marsha Green (Charles) of Carson, California; Mark Chiles of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and her adopted daughter Chan Lewis (Rufus) of Dallas, Texas. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Christ Gospel Church, 1203 W. Archer, Tulsa, Oklahoma with Rev. Charles Hill officiating. Burial will be private at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
