Loyd McCartt's Obituary
Loyd McCartt, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend; born Saturday, September 4, 1926 in Coalgate, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in Carlsbad, California with his loving family by his side. A longtime resident of Oklahoma, as a young man Loyd enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country honorably and proudly as an MP in World War II. After his service, Loyd returned to Tulsa where he met and married the love of his life, Betty Shea, on July 13, 1951 at the Church of God. After settling down as husband and wife and starting their family together, Loyd went to work with John Crane Inc. in Denver, Colorado and later in his beloved Tulsa as the District Sales Manager until his retirement in 1991. While he had a passion for traveling and loved taking vacations to the beach and to his home in California, his true passion was his family whom he loved so dearly. Fond memories of Loyd will always be cherished by his family and friends, especially the many weekends at their lake house and time on the water fishing together. Loyd will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched with his kindness and generosity. He is preceded in death by his dearly loved grandson, James “Justin” Sanwick. Loyd is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Betty S. McCartt; his two loving children, Gay Sanwick and husband Jim and Brad McCartt and partner Mark Dubas; his two dearly loved grandchildren; Amanda Camacho and husband Michael Stowers and Travis Loyd Sanwick and wife Elizabeth; his two precious great-great granddaughters, Mia Elizabeth Camacho and Maci Elaine Camacho and numerous lifelong friends. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 11:00AM at Floral Haven Funeral Home in the Rose Chapel. Services have been entrusted to Floral Haven Funeral Home, Floral Shop, Crematory & Memorial Gardens, 6500 S 129th E Ave; Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 74012. Loyd took pride in being a 50 year member of the Scottish Rite and a Thirty-Second Degree Mason. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a donation in Loyd’s name be made to the Jenks Masonic Lodge #497, Attention: Franklin Kell; 5717 E 97th Place; Tulsa, Oklahoma 74137; please make your check payable to Jenks Lodge #497.
