Lucille N. Laughlin's Obituary
Lucille N. Laughlin was born on leap year day, February 29, 1924 in Paden, OK to Delbert Amos and Ethel (Smalley) Whetstone.She and her five siblings were raised in Oklahoma by her father who was a deputy and farmer and her very talented Godly mother during their early years. Lucille was referred to as “Babe,” a nickname she loved. Lucille attended high school near Stroud and later moved with her husband, Jack Laughlin, to California where their first and only child, Daniel, was born.She and Jack lived in various cities in southern CA for many years until she returned to Oklahoma as a widow to be near her son and his family in 2000. She remained in Oklahoma until her death on January 28, 2015.Lucille had a great love for God and family. She loved to sing, belting out songs like Vestal Goodman for anyone who requested a hymn. Her favorite secular song was Kenny Rogers, “You picked a fine time to leave me, Lucille.” Lucille was always the life of the party, a fantastic cook and hostess who made everyone feel like they were her very favorite person in the whole world.Her father, Delbert Whetstone; mother, Ethel Smalley Whetstone; her oldest brother, Paul Whetstone; her husband, Jack Laughlin; and granddaughter, Debra Lynn preceded her in death. She is survived by her brothers, Delbert and Jack Whetstone; her sisters, Nova Welter and Marie Gonzales, her son, Daniel Laughlin her grandchildren, Kimberly Buck, Jonathan Laughlin, and Amie Robl; her great grandchildren. Funeral service to be held 12:30 pm Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
