Lucy Jo Spears' Obituary
Lucy Jo Spears, 75 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away suddenly from this life on Monday, August 10, 2020 after a massive stroke. She was born May 18, 1945 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to her parents, Jesse Robert Hathaway and Mary Joan Ralls Hathaway. She met the love of her life, Robert Spears after meeting him while buying an ice cream from him while he was on his popsicle truck route. They married on August 6, 1964 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and just celebrated their 56 year anniversary.
There are few things in life Lucy enjoyed more than teaching country western dance lessons and decorating for Christmas. She and Bob formed the Tulsa Country Western Dance Association over 25 years ago and have enjoyed amazing friendships over the years with their many students.
If you have ever been to their home, you know Lucy loved decorating for Christmas, as evidenced by the year round decorations still up in the house. She had an amazing collection of Christmas trees and nutcrackers, along with way too many ornaments too count.
Lucy is survived by her loving husband, Robert Spears of the home; one daughter, Tracy Spears and her wife Rosemary Harris of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Patricia Clymer of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Donna Hathaway of Catoosa, Oklahoma; and many, many friends and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Hathaway and her mother, Mary Jo O'Day.
