After a long period of declining health, Luene was reunited with the love of her life for 68 years. Luene was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Drake University with a degree in biology. While attending Drake Read Obituary
The beauty of a life well-lived touched all who knew her. It was an honor to be on the prayer team with Luene for many years. We chatted often about many different things and I was always encouraged and blessed. Her light will never really be extinguished..She is missed.
It was an honor to know her and we all loved her dearly. She was a special inspiration to all women.
We were blessed to live next door to Bob and Luene for nearly 20 years. What wonderful people! I so much enjoyed visiting with Luene when we would both be out working in our yards. I once heard someone describe my house as the house next door to the one with the beautiful flowers. My children have precious memories of Luene inviting them over for "tea" and stories when they were little. One year on December 1, Luene brought over a tall, white taper candle, decorated for Christmas with 25 markings down the candle. We burned down to the next mark each day as we looked forward to Christmas. That was the first of many December 1st's when Luene would deliver the much anticipated candle. It became a precious tradition in our home. Luene's love for Jesus Christ was evident in everything she did. We will miss her.
In recent years so much has gone wrong in the Cobb family and so many people have been hurt. Through this however, I have been able to reflect fondly of times spent with my grandma. She taught me an appreciation for beautiful things with frequent tours of her collections and beloved antiques, and taught me to see beauty in many different ways. I am happy that she was a part of my life and a will always have a place in my heat for her. Rest in peace grandma, I love you.
Luene was a beautiful example of a woman filled with the Holy Spirit and living her life with Christ as the center. She will be greatly missed here but welcomed with rejoicing in Heaven. Sherry Jones

Luene was a dear person – quiet but friendly and sweet and generous. She was always there to help.
Luene and Bob Cobb were the very first people that our family met at Redeemer when we first visited 17 years ago. I will always be grateful that they made us feel so welcomed and helped find where to take three middle school children to the youth group that Sunday morning long ago.My last visit with Luene was about a year ago as I sat and visited with her and my mother-in-law at Unversity Village one night. She shared about how she and Bob met and their ministry to young people during WWII, where they lived, and the things they would do. I knew as she talked I was privilege to hear a piece of history.Most all when I think of Bob and Luene i will always remember they were a couple that radiated the love Jesus to others and it show so not only in what they did but you could see it in their faces.
We were so blessed to have known Luene, what a wonderful Christ-like example she was to us all. I have missed her smiling face in our congregation.
I will miss seeing Luene's smiling face at church. She was a great lady. i know she is at peace as she praises her Lord and Savior.
