Luke Simpson's Obituary
Luke Robert Simpson stormed the castle one last time 11:30 pm August 20, 2019 and freed himself of brain cancer. He was born December 2, 1983 in Hominy, Oklahoma to Forrest (Twig) and Becky Simpson. He joined his big sister Kate and was later joined by younger brother Jacob.He attended elementary and middle school in Edmond and met his lifelong friend, Matt Cain. He started playing basketball in 2nd grade at the Edmond YMCA. It was a sport he would play the rest of his life. He moved to Shawnee, OK his sophomore year and was a member of the Shawnee Wolves basketball team. He set the school record for most point scored in a game at the Clinton Shoot-out tournament. He graduated Shawnee High School in 2002.Luke went on to play basketball at St. Gregory’s college for two years. He went to OU for a year and later attended and graduated from University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s in General Studies.He and Jessica Stone were married in April 15, 2013 and he became a step-dad to her son Raphael Parson.He enjoyed all kinds of music. While he was a dedicated Fantasy Football player, Luke loved watching sports of all kinds. Most summers were spent at the lake with his friends. He continued playing basketball at the Y as an adult prior to his cancer diagnosis.Luke was employed as a bartender in various restaurants and later got his certification as a Land Man. He was employed by Bolt Energy.Luke was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dollie Simpson in July 2018. Other survivors include his parents, brother and sister, wife, step-son and beloved dogs Disney and Prince. He also left behind his grandparents Gene Simpson, Mary Ann and Jordan Staffin, and Kenny and Janet Roberts, as well as niece Evelyn McDaniel and nephew Beckett McDaniel and brother-in-law Shaun McDaniel.He will be missed by his uncles, aunt, and many close cousins. Luke’s chosen family was also important to him. He will be missed deeply by his “brothers from other mothers”.Luke left behind a legacy of love and he was loved beyond measure.
