Lynnita Joy Barkat's Obituary
Lynnita Joy Barkat, 67, correctional officer, passed from this life on March 5, 2022, in Tulsa, OK. She was born October 16, 1954, in Kansas City, MO, and adopted by Leonard M. and Juanita L. (Cutberth) Seymour, Jr. She was a graduate of Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City. Until she became disabled in 2013, Joy served as a sign language interpreter for church services and especially liked to take care of the children in the nursery. She was very active in Higher Dimensions Family Church in Tulsa and later at Centenary United Methodist Church in Tulsa.
Joy is survived by her brother, Michael Seymour, and his wife Kathleen of Tulsa; nephews, Stephen M. Seymour of Oklahoma City, OK; Robert M. Seymour and his wife Holly of Tulsa, OK; niece, Teresa DeSirey of Austin, TX; great-nephews, Logan Seymour, and Lucas Seymour.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Juanita Seymour, Jr.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday, March 15th, at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 16th, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
