M. Zell Adams' Obituary
Martha Zell Adams was born January 14, 1912, to A.W. Mauldin and Mattie Lou (Eunice) Mauldin in Tipton, Georgia. She died peacefully May 30, 2011, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Zell had five brothers and was the fifth of six children. She completed high school in Abbeville, Alabama. Zell married Mallie C. Adams on December 4, 1932. Following their honeymoon in Cuba, they established their home in the Panama Canal Zone where their daughter Carroll was born. During World War II, Zell worked for the U.S. Censorship Department in the Canal Zone. She was active in Eastern Star Orchid Chapter No. 1 and had received her fifty-year pin. Upon Mallie's retirement from the Defense Department, they returned to the United States and settled in Orlando, Florida, where Zell worked as a decorator for J.C. Penny before retiring. Zell was active in the Orlando United Methodist Church and the National Federation of Republican Women. After her husband's death she traveled extensively until moving to Tulsa in 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Carroll Werling and husband Warren, Tulsa, Oklahoma; four granddaughters: Sandra Orvis Enterline and husband Bob, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Terri Orvis, Fairfax, Virginia, Jenni Orvis Roswurm and her husband Scot of Golsby, Oklahoma; and Kathi Orvis Morrison, Lithia Florida. She is also survived by twelve great -grandchildren, nine boys and three girls. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 2 from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 3rd at 10:00 am, Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Orlando Florida. Memorials may be made in her memory to your favorite charity.
