Mackey "Mac" Gilbreath's Obituary
Mackey Joe Gilbreath, known to all as Mac, age 59, passed from this life and entered Heaven’s gates on December 10, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on August 1, 1966, in Hico, Texas, Mackey was the beloved son of Joe Dean Gilbreath and Martha Jane (McCann) Gilbreath.
Mac was a light in the lives of many and a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him. On March 15, 1986, he married the love of his life, Melissa, and together they shared an extraordinary 39 years of devotion and joy. Their union was blessed with three beautiful daughters, who were the pride of his heart.
A true jack of all trades, Mac could build and fix anything. He delighted in teaching his girls the skills he mastered, always reminding them that if he was the one who took something apart, he could surely put it back together. His inventive spirit and clever mind made him a natural problem solver and creator.
Mac’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. A devout follower of Jesus, he lived with humility, kindness, and unwavering devotion. He found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of fishing and sitting by the lake, his favorite place to relax. In his younger years, he enjoyed competing in bass tournaments.
Mac’s warmth and humor were gifts he freely shared with everyone around him. He had a way of making people feel instantly at ease through a quick smile, a gentle laugh, or a perfectly timed joke. His presence brought comfort without ever demanding attention, and he gave generously of his time, talents, and heart—always ready to help, listen, or quietly step in when needed. Above all, he will be remembered for his love of family, his generous spirit, and the way he blessed others simply by being present. His legacy of faith, ingenuity, and love will live on in the hearts of his wife, daughters, family, and countless friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law Nena (Moon) Gilbreath. Mac is survived by wife Melissa Gilbreath; daughters Samantha Gilbreath, Rebecca Jones and her husband Mike, and Joyann Rocha and her husband Trever; granddaughters Remi Jones and Rubi Jones; brother Andy Gilbreath; and other family members and friends who will forever cherish their memories.
A memorial service celebrating Mac’s life will be held on January 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Life Church in Stephenville, Texas. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and are welcome to bring and share stories about Mac as we gather to celebrate life well lived.
