Mamie Catherine Wagner's Obituary
Mamie Catherine (Coleman) Wagner, 92, died Monday. Catherine was born March 13, 1928 in Garber Oklahoma.
Throughout the 1950’s Catherine worked in downtown Tulsa at the Dainty Maid Sandwich Shop. She met Willard Wagner through mutual friends in the late 1950’s. The two were married in Sapulpa July 15, 1960, after which she left the sandwich shop to become a homemaker. In the late 1970’s she worked in the fabric department at the local TG&Y, as well as in the cafeteria of several Tulsa Schools, including East Central High School.
Catherine was a devoted member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. She cared greatly for her church family. After she stopped driving due to declining health, members of her church family remained a very important part of her life, visiting her home, giving her rides to church, bringing her home-cooked meals and always remembering her on holidays and her birthday.
Mamie was preceded in death by her husband Willard, brothers Edward and Jerry Coleman and sisters Betty Colson and Margie Johnson. She is survived by her brother, Tom Coleman of Tulsa; son, Dan Crews of Tulsa; daughter, Mary Layton, of Oklahoma City; as well as six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
