Marcia Sue Sletmoen's Obituary
Marcia Sue Sletmoen was born May 5, 1937 in Los Angeles, California to Madelyn Mae Folk. Her Aunt Juanita Folk Claberg and her husband Walter Scott Claberg immediately adopted Marcia and raised her as an only child.Marcia was an original “Valley Girl”, raised in the San Fernando Valley in California, where she graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1955.In October of 1955 Marcia followed her heart to San Diego to find her sailor, Russell Sletmoen, he was stationed on the USS. Klondike AD 22, in San Diego, Calif. On October 8, 1955 Marcia and Russell were married. Together, they welcomed their one and only child, Cindee Sue Sletmoen while Russell was serving abroad ship in the South China Sea in September of 1956. Russell completed his duty in March of 1957.After Russell joined the Sheriffs Department he dared Marcia to apply for a position in the LAPD. Thinking she couldn’t pass the exams, she fooled him, and scored higher than him on the oral exam. She nailed it! Marcia was the “Jack of all Trades and the Master of Some”. Her careers included; a real estate agent, assistant in the UCLA registrar’s office, nail technician, massage therapist, court reporter, department store detective, medical transcriptionist and a secretary at Capitol Records.At retirement, Marcia and Russ moved back to Minnesota and built a home on Cormorant Lake in Russ’s hometown of Audubon, Minnesota. Marcia and Russ then followed Cindee to Oklahoma where Marcia became a full time medical transcriptionist and later retired and enjoyed being a grandmother and great grandmother who called her “Nani”.Marcia enjoyed writing, cooking, and helping others. She was full of life, always ready to host a party, everyone’s favorite mom, always smiling and laughing and loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren; who lit up her life.She leaves to cherish her sweet memories to her husband Russell, daughter Cindee married to Richard Bergren, two grandchildren, Ashlee Nicole Bergren Bivins married to Jay L. Bivins and Terry Bergren (Boom) married to Angela Ann, her three great-grandchildren; Braydin Russell, Jaylee Jordin and Liam Patrick. As well as, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted lifelong friends.Marcia went home to be with her Savior on July 19, 2016. She will be deeply missed and loved for eternity by all.Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, July 25th, Floral Haven Funeral Home.Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 26th Trinity Lutheran Church, Broken Arrow
