Marcia Tillson's Obituary
Marcia M Tillson, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away at 8pm on Saturday, October 22, 2022. Marcia was born on May 27, 1945, to Rev J Milton Kinney and Marvina H Kinney in Ottawa, Illinois. She attended Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa and graduated in 1962. While in high school, she was on the Rifle Team where she received a rating of sharp shooter. She also served as a Librarian and on the Honor Society, FTA, Debate, German, Science, Vocal and Pageant clubs. She later attended Simpson College and graduated in 1966.
Marcia met the love of her life, Jared J Tillson, in Spirit Lake Iowa. They later married on August 29, 1965 in Bedford Iowa. Shortly after, Butch entered the Navy and they made their home in San Diego and then Long Beach, California. They later made their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They raised two daughters: Virginia and Rebecca. Marcia later worked for the Quilting B, then bought and renamed the business to Custom Quality Quilting. She retired in the fall of 2011. Jared and Marcia were married for 57 years.
Marcia enjoyed sewing, gardening, spending time with her family (especially her grandkids) and helping others. Marcia sewed over 20,000 masks during COVID. She enjoyed going on vacations with Butch and with her brother Joseph and sister-in-law Mary. She also enjoyed spending time with her sister Elena and husband Dave. Marcia served lunches during Vacation Bible School at Southwood Baptist Church for many years. Marcia met lots of people through work and travels; she was a blessing and a servant to all she met. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Marcia is survived by her husband Jared of Tulsa, OK, two children Virginia Strate and husband Steve of Tulsa, and Rebecca Lea and partner Bert of Claremore, her sister Elena Eaton and husband Dave of Wagoner, brother Mike Kinney of Bixby, 7 grandkids Matt Choate and wife Larah of Claremore, Brittany Bennett and husband Paul of Tulsa, Dreya Hubbard of Coweta, John Couch and wife Tiffany of Christiansburg, Virginia, Ryker Hubbard and girlfriend Summer of Coweta, Hannah Cabebe and partner Jasmine both serving in the U S Navy, and Beth Couch of Tulsa; great-grandchildren Dameon, Areya, Conner and Tucker, as well as nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Eric, her brother, Joseph Kinney, and her parents, Rev J Milton Kinney and Marvina H Kinney.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 27th at 3:00 p.m. at the Floral Haven Chapel in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 5-7 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home
