Margaret Louise Beffer's Obituary
Margaret Louise Beffer
October 1, 1931 – September 17, 2021
Margaret Louise Beffer, 89, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed away on September 17, 2021.
Margaret was born in Grayson, Kentucky on October 1, 1931. She married Nicholas “Nick” Beffer on September 16, 1954.
She enjoyed many things in her long life! Her early years were filled with music. She and 5 of her siblings created “The Riley Family” group and sang their way through a myriad of events and competitions. Singing never left her throughout her life! She served our country in the Air Force, at Elgin Air Force Base, in Florida before coming home to help raise the family after the death of her father, John Riley. She soon turned her focus to Nick, their life together, along with their 5 children. Loading up the family in the VW van and heading out to the “Tie-In” for fishing and motorcycle rides was a regular event. One of her favorite events was “Beffer Christmas”. It was always filled with organized games, prizes, costumes, and mock auctions. Always a competition! Going to Garage Sales and auctions was a passion to say the least. She loved the hunt! Seeking anything collectible and, whatever the price, it needed to be negotiated down. Her favorite pieces were Fiesta dishes. There is enough Fiesta in the family to be passed down for generations! In her final years, she loved her yardwork and getting out to see the sights around town. Wearing her hats and singing all the way.
Margaret is survived by 4 of her children, Vicki, Tony, Cathy, and Joe, and their spouses. Her siblings Mary “Peppy”, James “Jim”, Freda “Sug”, and Robert “Bob”, and their spouses. 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren make up the rest.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Riley, her husband and love of her life Nicholas “Nick” Beffer, her first child Nicholas “Nick Jr.”, and her siblings Raymond Riley and Cecil “Jack” Riley.
A service to celebrate Margaret’s life (and birthday!) will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 1, 2021, at Cornerstone Church, 3333 E. 41st Street in Tulsa, OK with Pastor Jon Odom officiating.
The family would like to extend our thanks and appreciation for the staff at Brookdale South Assisted Living, Miller Hospice and a special “Thank You” to our two new family members, Wanda Thomas and Latosha Scott for their tireless efforts. The work these special people did made mom’s “Oh Golly” years special!
