Margaret Ann Carson's Obituary
Margaret Ann Brown Carson (Meg), age 77, formerly of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away after a long illness on January 31, 2024 in Sarasota, FL surrounded by loving friends.
She was born December 31,1946, to Dr. R Brown and Pauline Walker Brown in Beatrice, Nebraska. She was a 1965 graduate of Beatrice High School and a 1970 graduate of the University of Nebraska with a degree in Journalism. That same year she married George E. Carson and they lived in Kansas City and Tulsa, OK where they later divorced.
She then obtained a Masters of Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma, Tulsa, while holding a full-time job and raising her daughter. She continued to reside in Tulsa for most of her remaining life.
Meg led a life dedicated to helping others. Through her work she gave support and career advice to many individuals who found themselves without a job. Most of her career however was spent giving comfort and support to patients and their families at Hospice of Green Country, Saint Francis Hospice and later at Grace Hospice of Tulsa. She did take one year off to travel to Scotland which she dearly loved and spoke of often. She loved music, the arts, whimsical things, reading and her many beloved pets throughout the years. Meg was especially grateful to her neighbor Gerry who adopted her cat, Cricket, when she got ill.
She was a member of P.E.O. as well as an active member of St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church for nearly 40 years. From singing alto in the choir to giving her time and energy to several committees, Meg was an example of a person anchored in faith with kindness in her heart for others. She will be greatly missed by the multitude of friends and family whose lives she touched with her warmth and laughter.
Survivors include her daughter Sarah Carson of Seattle, Washington, her sister Mary “Marty” Caldwell, of Fairfax, VA and niece Whitney Caldwell (Josh Morin) and great nephew Evan, of Vienna, VA. She was proceeded in death by her father, mother and brother, R Brown II.
A memorial service followed by inurnment are being planned at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 20th at 2 pm. The service will be live streamed.
