Margaret Virginia Soper's Obituary
Margaret Virginia Soper, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and adored great-grandmother, passed away on June 28, 2023, at the age of 81. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a lifetime of precious memories.
Margaret was born on April 24, 1942, in East Meadow, New York, to her beloved parents, Peter and Margaret DeVoe. Growing up in a warm and nurturing home, Margaret developed a strong sense of family values and a deep appreciation for the bonds of love and support that connect us all.
On a beautiful day, Margaret met the love of her life, Robert Soper III, and they embarked on a journey of love and companionship that lasted a lifetime. Together, they created a nurturing home and raised their two daughters, Ginny and Debbie. Margaret dedicated herself wholeheartedly to caring for her family, creating a loving and welcoming environment where everyone felt embraced and cherished. Her unconditional love and selflessness were truly inspiring, and her family was her greatest joy. Margaret was kind, caring, and compassionate, she had a loving heart and would help anyone in need. Often, she would fill a need before you realized you even needed help. She worked outside the home while keeping a loving home for Bob, Ginny, and Debbie. Even though she was busy, she always had time for her girls. She would stop what she was doing to play, listen, talk, or attend one of the girls sporting or theatrical events; she never missed an event. Margaret didn’t care for just her girls; she was a second Mom to many of her daughters' friends. Margaret was always excited to join in on any adventure Bob and the girls wanted to do. She loved boating, water skiing, riding 4-wheelers, camping, and numerous pranks and epic water fights! Margaret loved kids and once she found out she was going to be a grandma, she quit work to babysit. She didn’t want her babies in daycare! After the grandkids went to school, she continued loving and caring for other families’ babies and toddlers. Margaret loved her family, and she was known for her photography skills and for creating lots of beautiful and sentimental photo albums. If you saw Margaret, you knew she had a camera close by. Her great-grandbabies filled her last seven years with happiness and abundant love. Her family was her life! Margaret left a hole in a lot of lives, but she blessed so many. May she rest in peace and continue to watch and guide her family from above.
Margaret was preceded in passing by her parents, Peter Henry DeVoe, and Margaret (Totman) DeVoe; and her brothers, Peter and Frederick DeVoe.
Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and lives of her beloved husband, Robert Soper III; her daughters, Ginny Kropiewnicki, and Debbie Reeves and her husband, Bobby; her grandchildren, Michael Kropiewnicki and his wife, Peyton, Aaron Kropiewnicki and his wife, Natalie, Brandon Reeves and his wife, Lyndzi, Lindsay Wickersham and her husband, Jared; her great-grandchildren, Brayden and Bryson Reeves, Reagan Wickersham and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Though Margaret's physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit will forever live on. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her family and loved ones find solace in the beautiful memories they shared with her.
"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."
