Margaret Florence Yancy's Obituary
Margaret Florence Yancy, lovingly known as "Nanny," passed away at the age of 90.
She was born on 11/16/1935 and departed this life on 01/12/2026 at 3:43 PM in Tulsa,
OK.
Margaret Florence Yancy, affectionately known as "Nanny," lived a life that
exemplified hard work, grace, devotion, and joy. Born on November 16, 1935, in
Tulsa, Oklahoma, Margaret's ninety years were marked by dedication, deep
family bonds, and a spirit that touched everyone she met. Her journey was one
of love and resilience, from her early years as the daughter of Jim and Lorene
Conlin, through her marriage to Archie Yancy, and into her cherished role as
mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Margaret's life was a testament to the values of hard work and commitment.
She began her career early, dedicating herself to her family and later to her work
at Brunswick and Zebco, where she retired as a logistics warehouse associate.
Her marriage to Archie in 1953 was the foundation of a devoted partnership that
lasted 55 years, and together they raised two daughters, Debby and Carol,
nurturing a family that would grow to include grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
A woman of faith, Margaret's Christian beliefs guided her actions and inspired
those around her. Family was the heart of Margaret’s world. She was famous for
her weekly phone call rounds—always starting with a check-in on everyone’s
pets, sharing her thoughts on the news, and ending with a smile and a gentle
reminder. Her playful spirit shone through in her love of jokes; she was known
for her “onery” sense of humor and delighted in keeping her family on their toes
with a well-timed prank.
Nanny & Papa’s home was a gathering place for holidays, good meals, and love.
She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending her
retirement years making memories with them and her beloved “grand-dogs.”
She was a woman of simple joys—gardening, caring for animals, and indulging
in junk food and candy. Shopping for new bedspreads, shoes, and purses was
a favorite pastime, and she always had something stylish for every season. One
of Margaret’s greatest pleasures was watching “The Young & Restless.” She
never missed an episode and loved to discuss the latest plot twists with her
daughter Carol or her girlfriends. These conversations became a cherished
ritual, filled with laughter and connection.
Margaret’s faith was her foundation. Her kindness, encouragement, and
unwavering support uplifted her family through every season of life, and her
playful spirit kept her young at heart. She faced loss with courage, remembering
those who went before her, and continued to be a source of strength for those
who remained.
In honoring Margaret Florence Yancy, we celebrate a life lived “by the book”—
rich in love, honesty, laughter, and legacy. Her story reminds us that a wonderful
life is measured not only by years, but by the kindness shared, the memories
made, and the family cherished. Margaret’s legacy will continue to inspire all
who knew her, and her playful, loving spirit will live on in the stories her family
tells for generations to come. She was the true definition of dedication. She will
be greatly missed and loved infinitely.
Margaret is survived by her beloved family: her daughter, Carol Coates; her
grandchildren, Jason Kissinger, Mandi Campbell and spouse, Rick Campbell; and her
great-grandchildren, Abigail Kissinger and Conner Campbell.
She was the daughter of Jim and Lorene Conlin and sister to Lillian Joyce Ruckman.
Margaret was also sister-in-law to Norma Yancy.
Margaret was preceded in death by her spouse, Archie Yancy (04/19/1925 -
06/27/2008); her daughter, Debby Yancy - Paris (09/25/1950 - 04/17/2015); her parents,
Jim and Lorene Conlin; her sister, Joyce Ruckman; and her grandson, Steve Gates
